Dr Ernest Ndukwe is a Corporate Executive, Entrepreneur and Business Management Trainer. He is a Fellow of the Nigerian Institute of Management (FNIM), Fellow of the Nigerian Society of Engineers (FNSE) and Fellow of the Nigerian Academy of Engineering, FAEng. He is author of several papers on ICT Utility Regulation, Sector Policy and business management.

He was the Managing Director of General Telecom Plc, (formally GEC Telecommunications Nigeria Ltd) for eleven years prior to his appointment as Executive Vice Chairman/Chief Executive Officer of the Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC). He served at the NCC meritoriously for 10 years (2000 to 2010); a period generally referred to as the era of Nigeria’s Telecommunications Revolution.

After his tenure at the NCC, he joined the Lagos Business School as part time Faculty in the Strategy Department. He also founded and headed the Centre for Infrastructure Policy, Regulation and Advancement, CIPRA, at the LBS.

Dr Ndukwe had championed the founding of the West African Telecommunications Regulators Association and later served as its President for several years. He also served as Chairman of the African Telecommunications Union (ATU) and Vice Chairman of the Telecom Development Advisory Group (TDAG) of the International Telecommunications Union, ITU, representing Nigeria. His company, General Telecom Plc, was one of the pioneer members of Association of Telecommunication Companies of Nigeria, ATCON, and he later served as its President.

He served as member of Presidential Committee on Job creation in 2010. He was Co-chairman of the Presidential Committee that developed the National Broadband Plan (2013–2018) for Nigeria and subsequently served on the National Broadband Council as Vice Chairman.

Dr Ndukwe serves on the Board of several companies. He is currently the Chairman of MTN Nigeria Communications Plc; Chairman of SystemSpecs Ltd and Chairman of Openmedia Group.

Ndukwe is recipient of several civic and professional awards including the National award of Officer of the Order of the Federal Republic (OFR). He was decorated in 2014, at World Telecom Development Conference (WTDC), with the ITU Gold Medal Award “in recognition of his important contribution to global Information and Communication Technologies and to the work of ITU”

Dr Ndukwe graduated from the University of Ife in 1975 with a BSc (hon) degree in Electronics and Electrical Engineering and has also attended Executive Education Programs at Lagos Business School, Harvard Business School, IMD Business School, INSEAD Business School, Northwestern University Kellogg School of Management and Columbia Business School. He is also a recipient of Honorary Doctorate degrees from five Nigerian Universities for his scholarly and professional achievements.

For Dr Ndukwe, it has been a life of professional accomplishments and service to the nation. Besides his busy work schedules, he still devotes ample time to his family and in community service and philanthropy.
